The Quiet Arrival of AGI

Marc Andreessen — co-founder of Netscape and co-author of Mosaic, the browser that put the web in front of ordinary people — was recently interviewed by Joe Rogan, and Glenn Beck devoted a segment to breaking the conversation down citing it as critical for everyone to understand. Andreessen's headline claim: we quietly crossed into AGI (artificial general intelligence) about three months ago, in early 2026, and barely noticed because the field now moves too fast for any single milestone to register. I tend to agree. It has had a profound effect on what I now do on a daily basis. It's worth being precise about what Andreessen actually argued, because the claim is stronger when it's stated honestly than when it's inflated.
